Don co-founded Stopol in 1990 with his brother Neil and father Neil Sr., and has played a key role in the company’s steady growth. He currently serves as the Director of Thermoforming and Vice President of its Business Services division.
In his role as Director of Thermoforming, Don is responsible for overseeing and driving the overall direction of the Stopol’s thermoforming-related activities, which includes developing and implement strategies, managing equipment sales, scouting opportunities, ensuring sustainable growth, guiding the acquisition of assets, and representing the company’s thermoforming interests to its stakeholders and external audiences. As Vice President of Business Services -- a separate division of Stopol that specializes in managing mergers and acquisitions for clients – Don uses his industry knowledge, contacts and relationship-building abilities to bring merger and acquisition partners together.
A vital member of the Stopol leadership team, Don has helped the Solon-Ohio based company evolve from a start-up used plastics equipment merchant to a multi-million dollar, technologically advanced, full-service plastics industry deal broker and consultant. In addition to buying and selling equipment, Stopol now specializes in comprehensive auction management, liquidation services, appraisals, and mergers and acquisition expertise through its Business Services division. Currently, Stopol is expanding its operations to include the sale of new machinery as well.
Prior to helping found Stopol, Don sold thermoforming machines and tooling for both Portage Casting and Mold Inc. and Hartland Thermoforming Co.
Don is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and has served its Thermoforming Division in a variety of leadership roles and high-profile capacities. He currently is the Chairman of the SPE Machinery Committee and also serves on the Awards Committee. In addition to his official SPE duties, Don also actively markets and sponsors the SPE Annual Thermoforming Conference by providing monetary and advertising support, as well as promoting the conference during his day-to-day interactions with customers and business partners.
Don lives in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with his wife and two children.
