SOLON, Ohio (May 11, 2006)– MAAC Machinery has named Stopol, Inc. -- a leader in arranging the acquisition and sale of production equipment and machinery, businesses, divisions, product lines, and manufacturing licenses in the plastics industry -- as its authorized distributor of new and used equipment for the MAAC and Comet brands of thermoforming machinery.

Headquartered in Carol Stream, Ill., MAAC is one of the top thermoforming machinery companies in the United States, providing a wide array of manufacturing services.

In its role as an authorized distributor of new MAAC equipment, Stopol will proactively sell and market the MAAC and Comet lines to its customer base of 30,000 accounts. As authorized dealer of used MAAC machinery, the Solon, Ohio-based company will launch and manage a program in which it will help its customers exchange their used MAAC thermoforming presses for newer equipment.

“This arrangement is good for Stopol and MAAC, but ultimately, the greatest benefactor is our customer base,” said Donald Kruschke, Stopol’s Director of Thermoforming and Vice President of Business Services. “This partnership enables plastics processors to trade in their current equipment for newer, more efficient and technologically advanced machinery.”

“MAAC and Stopol have a history of working together on a number of ventures,” said Paul V. Alongi, MAAC CEO and founder. “This agreement is a natural progression of our successful relationship with Stopol and makes good business sense. Stopol gets to add another new equipment line to its catalog of offerings, and MAAC benefits from having its product aggressively marketed by Stopol’s sales force.”

Stopol and MAAC have joined forces on a number of projects recently:

  • Despite overtures from a number of Chinese manufacturers, Stopol chose MAAC Machinery as its partner to develop and manufacture the Royce Router, a new brand of routers nearly four times faster than the industry standard.
  • r The two companies sponsored a Casino Night at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division 2005 trade show in Milwaukee that raised over $30,000 for the SPE Thermoforming Division‘s Student Scholarship Fund. The fund helps solidify the long-term future and viability of the plastics industry by helping develop engineering talent.
  • r Stopol and MAAC will share a booth (#4216, North Hall) at the National Plastics Exhibition this June in Chicago.
